Australian Customs and Border Protection Service (ACBPS), now Australian Border Force, set up a project in 2013 to procure eight Cape Class vessels. The Cape Class patrol boats are a major ocean-based border protection asset for the organisation, with a length overall (LOA) of 58 metres and a beam of 10.3 metres.

CAPDA Consulting assisted ACBPS to develop and manage the Request for Tender, evaluate tender responses, participate in contract negotiations (including parallel negotiations) and execution of the acquisition and in-service support contract.

During the acquisition phase, CAPDA Consulting also planned for and participated in mandated design reviews and contract management. CAPDA Consulting personnel provided program management, commercial management, project management, project support and transition support to contribute to the program’s success.

The ACBPS team that procured the Cape Class Patrol Boats was recognised by the Australian Institute for Project Management (AIPM) with an achievement award.
